Apparently, 5.4.16 with the above patch included solves the problem.
Before this patch, performing a speedtest.net test or downloading a
large file almost guarantees to reproduce the problem. Please backport
the patch to Ubuntu's 5.3 kernel.

The original bug I reported was a duplicate of bug #1751414. It has been
fixed. Lately I've upgraded from 17.10 to 18.08 for my laptop. I don't have
this issue. My laptop has Intel GPU though.

It turns out I run into another problem. Pluseaudio doesn't prefer
headphone in some cases, have to select headphone manually for once to
fix it. Anyway the bug doesn't affect kernel v4.15.

Well it still crashes on close if I enable tray icon. If I remember
correctly, tray icon is disabled by default on Xubuntu. I didn't need to
enable it to trigger the bug.

I had this bug when I first installed Xubuntu 16.04. Now the problem
seems gone, I can't reproduce it for now. Some recent update might have

I'm using Xubuntu 14.04. I solves the problem by setting
/Net/EnableInputFeedbackSounds and /Net/EnableInputFeedbackSounds to true. By
default their values are false. You can do this in setting manager or in
terminal.

The problem was caused by adding `uvesafb mode_option=1280x1024-32 mtrr=3
scroll=ywrap` to /etc/initramfs-tools/modules
I added this line to try fixing high tty resolution after installing nvidia
driver but it broke hibernation.

This is weird. I can successfully hibernate and resume sometimes.

I just install xfc 4.12 from Xubuntu dev ppa. The bug still exists. The
eject option always appears in thunar 1.6.6 but it's not click-able at
first. It would become click-able after I running `udisksctl power-off
-b /dev/sdb` and re-plugging in the drive.
