The fingertip solution does not work for me. But after killing hal
(/etc/init.d/hal stop) it seems to work better. A few times I got an

According to the README in libpam-ssh you should be able to login if

IMHO ubuntu-minimal is not "sufficiently minimal" yet. It depends upon
way too many packages. Working on a system with high security
constraints it doesn't make sense to install locales, Python, ntpdate or

I try to setup an OpenVPN connection to our gateway using an X.509
certificate and
PS: Its not network-manager, but network-manager-kde. I switched to
Gnome, and it asked me for the passphrase as expected. Moving back to
KDE: Problem is back.

AFAICS the problem is still in, if you are using KDE. Using Gnome I get
the popup asking for the passphrase, and OpenVPN works. Using KDE there
is no popup, and the connection fails.

Booting the alpha4 desktop CD for amd64 I just get a black screen at
boot time after the "loading kernel" popup and a few lines of text. Even
the background light goes off. Selecting a different text mode (e.g.
vga=771) doesn't help. There is no moving boot logo.

I tried the current (Feb.9th) Hardy DVD image. The problem is still
there: No boot logo, after a long wait I can select only 800x600 in low
graphics mode, etc. :-(

AFAICS the patch for problem #201591 doesn't seem to be responsible for
breaking Alsa or the proprietary NVidia drivers. Would it be possible to
get this fix onto the CD image, before Hardy is released?
