Window Selector (switch between open windows using a menu) panel

for all people affected).
I've got the same problem : When I click on Import, an empty progress
bar appears and nothing more. The console shows :

You can set a package to be on hold. As root:
# echo package hold | dpkg --set-selections
This is what I did to prevent Colin's test kernel from being replaced by the
regular Ubuntu kernel.
This change can be reverted with:
# echo package install | dpkg --set-selections

Arnaud, with Colin's test kernel (or official Jaunty kernels) I don't
hear any crackling noise after playing a sound. I do hear one when
rebooting though.
BTW I assume the patch Colin applied to his test kernel didn't make it
in the newer 2.6.28-15.48 kernel, because it still has the same audio
I tested the patched kernel from Colin (comment 178), and it solved the
problem I had on a Compaq mini 700 EF running UNR (before that, I would
get audio from speakers right after boot, but no longer after
plugging/unplugging headphones in the audio jack, and it would come back
after a
I encountered the same problem with Jaunty/UNR on an Atom CPU. With this
CPU, the oprofile kernel module also reports a cpu_type of
i386/arch_perfmon, which is not a problem in itself, but requires a
patch to oprofile (fix in in oprofile CVS, after the 0.9.4 release).

I have the same problem. It could be a user access control problem - the
firefox running user not having enough permissions. When running 'ps
faux' I observe that instead of the name of the user appearing I only
see its UID number. I checked /etc/passwd but it looks fine. There may
be something
After all it seems that the user showing as UID number in 'ps faux'
output was just because the login name was more that eight characters
long...

Solved ! I took a hint from http://www.redhat.com/archives/redhat-
sysadmin-list/2007-August/msg1.html and it provided a workaround the
problem : Firefox fails to let users attach documents in Gmail and other
webmails with an AJAX attachment widget if the user login name is more
than eight
I called victory too soon... I solved it but not for every file. The
system I'm working on belongs to a user who managed to put various sorts
of quotes in file names and have some files and directories chmod 755...
And it seems that both issues have an impact on the impossible
attachment. I guess

The Apache 2 version is a port of the Apache 1.3 version. Therefore we should
have two different packages :

http://dominia.org/djao/limitipconn.html)

For the benefit of thoose doing a search because they have the same
issue, I think I've tracked the issue. At least with a 2.6.21 kernel,
having PEA enabled and AGP_INTEL enabled seem incompatible with the
mother board.
It's probably also the reason for which I'm unable to install Ubuntu 64
I second that proposal : at the moment, version 1.1.15 in Ubuntu refuses
to work with version 1.1.14 in Debian Unstable. Rdiff-backup is as usual
very intolerant of different versions communicating with each other.
Making sure that the version chosen for Ubuntu is the most compatible
with the ones
I've removed the duplicate status as I still get the problem with kernel
-15.25. BTW, using a 2.6.20.7 from kernel.org shows also the same
problem.

Jean-Marc, I reopened the bug. The trick is to click the name of the
package (grub (Ubuntu) in this case). This will the show a drop-down
menu where you can change the status etc.
I had assume that this link led to a package page showing other
bugs for it.
Thanks
I'm probably missing the obvious, but I don't see a way to reopen the

I've reproduced the bug in the latest dapper. As a matter of fact, it blocked
my upgrade.
Previously, the screen flashed too quickly for a digital camera to
react.
Now, the freeze is slighly different, it just show GRUB.
Bug #19948 is about libglademm2, I think you mistyped the number.
