This was not handled well at all. I encountered exactly the problem

Same problem for me on a Dell GX270 with DVD RW drive (NEC Optiarc ND-

I cannot use the desktop installer because I want to configure LVM

In my case (reported as https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/336737) this
does not occur when Nautilus starts, but when I close a Nautilus which I
have started from the command line. Pedro Villavicencio thought it was
a duplicate of this bug (which it may very well be), so he closed my bug

No, it appears to have gone away. I just did some more experimenting
and found an easy way to reproduce it in 7.10:
1) boot from CD (to get a fresh installation of 7.10)
2) add System Monitor to panel, in order to be able to see the 100% use of one
CPU
3) open a Terminal (Accessories->Terminal)

No, I am not experiencing this anymore. I keep my system up-to-date, so
it has changed several times since this first occurred.
P.S. is there a way to attach multiple files independently? Or would I

Thanks, Michael. Yes, this definitely affects bash. I didn't know you
had to choose a package. It also affects gnome-terminal.

I'm running bash in a gnome-terminal under an up-to-date Gutsy. If I

True, that it's not really a bug. It's a misfeature that does really
need to be fixed for Ubuntu to be able to enter the mainstream and
capture market share.
