But the problem only occurs if my HD Sata will be connected, therefore if I to
use a HD IDE the Gutsy system initiates boot normally.

EXACTLY the same problem here, still the ALC883 but on the ICH8. My
laptop is a Rock Pegasus 710, so there aren't any specific fixes for
this model. I really wish I could get a fix for this... oh well, looks

I have a Toshiba Satellite P100-MA2 PSPA3C, running Ubuntu Feisty 7.0.4
Everything works great except for sound. I have seen similar posts
related to ACPI, and some conflicting info about custom DSDTs, but not
for this exact model. I would appreciate any help offered.
OK, I have held off doing any kernel modifications such as adding
alsa-1.0.14rc4 as others have suggested as I thought you guys might want
to work with me to fix this issue.
It has been over three weeks and nobody here has even assigned any
importance to this issue, should I assume I am on my own?

In gutsy i've been unable to get sound working for my dell inspiron
1720.

when i inserted a blank dvd r 4.7 gb and selected some mp3 files with
over all size of less than 100 mb , brasero burn button is not enabled
for burning the cd

According to Michael Foord, it's fixed in the 2.6 branch and trunk.
Maybe karmic isn't updated yet? I have no idea how or when that process
happens.

I open an encrypted document in an archive, then I worked on it, but closed the
archive manager in the background.
When I tried to save the document with the "save"-icon, there was no error
message. I closed the document and the changes were not stored.
I tried it again, whe
t there is no
errormassage. And the Archiev is not updated, and tmp will be deleted. Under
windows you get a failor massage. I think this is more userfriendly... to my
its not user unfriendly, it is a bug.

OK, I have held off doing any kernel modifications such as adding
alsa-1.0.14rc4 as others have suggested as I thought you guys might want
to work with me to fix this issue.
It has been over three weeks and nobody here has even assigned any
importance to this issue, should I assume I am on my own?

I've just installed Ubuntu few day ago, and it's plays fine, but when I
restarted it, the problem started. I don't remember if it was before or after I
made the update. Sorry.
