I agree it is probably kernel or firmware issue. What should i do in
such case? Should I nominate this bug for another package? Which one? I
am not skilled in symptom vs. package assignment. In any case, this
issue is associated with mythtv. Other viewers (e.g. MeTV) works fine.
Problem still exists after recent upgrade to kernel 2.6.31-16. Mythtv works

Well, I have to take back my too optimistic comment. It worked perfect -

I removed completely mythtv, restarted and ... BINGO - card is working.
At least it is working in vlc.

I have ATI Radeon 9200SE running now on 9.10 Karmic Koala RC. I
experienced significant performance drop comparing to Intrepid or Jaunty
with proprietary driver which is not offered in Karmic Koala. I believe
acceleration is not working with default Karmic driver. Simple gear test
gives about 400
Difficult to declare if it is reproducible on other machines when this
behavior is present starting from installation of 9.10 RC. It is
definitely reproducible on my comp. I can add following comments after
some recent tests...
(1) Black desktop is shown just after login.
(2) When trying to

I am not using nautilus frequently as I prefer gnome-commander. I can
run nautilus but described bug occurs when nautilus is not running. I
will check later today if same holds when nautilus is running and in
guest session.
I am not sure if it is related but I get a failed message when running
(1) gnome-settings-daemon is present in System monitor process list with status
sleeping.
(2) Black screen is present regardless nautilus is running or not.
(3) Guest session has wallpaper and can be changed by Appearance Preferences.
