First of all, sorry for not testing this earlier. I forgot about it.
From the comments above, I'm not entirely certain wether the new NV

I just tried to load the hdaps module on my T61p, and it still doesn't

As far as I can tell, it is because the vendor in the whitelist is

Ok. I tried starting kdm with Alvin's xorg.conf, and that worked!
I then tried to morph Alvin's xorg.conf into my old, and it turns out
that the refresh-rate settings are actually causing this crash.
In my original file it says:
Horizsync 30-70

Ok. I figure the problem out. I got an xorg.conf file from another user
with a T61p, who didn't have any problems using kdm, and if I use his

I changed the refresh settings from:

Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: gnome-applets
The Weather report in gnome-applets 2.18.0-0ubuntu1 seems to be unable
to contact any server with weather information. Regardless which
location is chosen, it only reports 'update failed'
** Affects: gnome-applets (Ubuntu)
Importance:
Early reports indicate that this patch likely does NOT solve the
problem.
Did not work for me on a fresh Ubuntu Feisty Fawn install but I'm sure
you*ll make it work soon. :-)

You say you use the latest Ubuntu version so this may be an indicator
that this error was not solved in Ubuntu or the Linux kernel but it was
solved in the Dell firmware. I'm using a Dell Latitude D820 and with the

Just to keep you up-to-date: Some months ago I stopped using the Dell
Latitude D820 because of this problem and moved back to a Dell Latitude
D810 which was not affected. Now I got my hands on an D820 again,
installed Edgy on it and did some hours of auto-reboots (My previous

I just wanted to confirm this bug.
The package is sound-juicer 2.16.1-0ubuntu1 on Edgy.
After upgrading to edgy from dapper I lost all profiles in sound-juicer.
It still shows 4 profiles but the data within is bogus.
I didn't get a segfault though, but wav files.

The problem did not recur with a newly downloaded version of Kubuntu
6.10. The Kubuntu CD with the problem was from 2006-10-03, probably
beta. The bug can be closed as far as I am concerned. Sorry for the
noise.
