I have witnessed similar issue. Basically, the sound starts crackling. Restarting pulseaudio does not help. If i either pause or let the crackling continue for several minutes, the sound starts properly working again on itself. Unplugging and replugging USB cord also works (I have USB sound) --

It seems as though the USB connection is cut for a short time and that makes the audio "crack". My USB DAC starts to blink the connection LED when the problem occurs. The connection LED stays on, when everything is OK. I do use a wireless USB mouse and keyboard, but have done so before upgrading
