Virtualbox 5.0.40 is not working with the new kernel (4.13.0-26), but
the new version of VBox (5.2) works fine.
Download it from VirtualBox page or add the source to your sources.list:
sudo sh -c 'echo "deb http://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/debian
xenial contrib" >> /etc/apt/sources.list'

In my ubuntu gutsy appears same problem.
I disabled the ubuntufox plugin and don't freeze again.
Test disabling the ubuntufox plugin.
