While this bug report and bug #101920 both refer to the same HARDWARE
they are entirely different problems.
I am willing to test alsa 1.0.14 to see if that fixes the problem. Which

Alsa is at 1.0.13 and the package name is alsa-base at version
1.0.13-3ubuntu1. I'm running feisty and this is the latest version in
the repositories. This probably also effects upstream.

Public bug reported:
I have a logitech USB headset 250 and it's the only audio device on my system

installing feisty it would no longer work. The problem seems to reside in Alsa
and I confirmed it by installing

Synaptic was open and downloading updates while I was trying different

I can confirm that it's possible to reset/crash etc during a breezy to
dapper upgrade and still have the system think that it's been upgraded.
Only afterwards is it evident that some steps were not completed.

Aborted Breezy-to-Dapper upgrade, yet seems to have upgraded
after using:

I installed a few updates and run into no timeouts however I did run

make things easier.

Network-manager does not apply the selected modem speaker volume setting and
ignores it's own settings when attemping to activate the modem device.
Example: Using network-manager, modem speaker is set to OFF. Now the connection

Public bug reported:
After successfully activating a dialup modem on network-manager and connecting

2)The connection disconnects regardless of any timeout settings

Public bug reported:
Synaptic frequently times out on my modem connection due to the nature
of dialup internet. I have to constantly monitor my updates and retry
them when they timeout so they continue. Solutions would be the option
in synaptic to modify the timeout or an auto retry feature the
