I did an experiment and I believe sooner or later can be replaced with
Restart Thunderbird. This is my attempt at documenting the workaround
step by step:
EVERY TIME YOU WANT TO REFRESH THE INBOX:
2 - Close Thunderbird, including all mail
Not sure what smartphones you have there but I have a permanent IDLE
connection from mine, as on the desktop with Thunderbird. If disabling
IDLE in Thunderbird is part of the workaround, then I think IDLE
implementation is the problem. I'm not using IDLE for fun, I want to see

- Put small JavaScript code like click Work Offline, reply if required,
wait for a while, click Work Online, reply if required.
In case you're not aware of it anymore, going offline and back online
does not resolve the issue. At least for me. The only thing
