Can anyone please explain what Akonadi is and why it is suddenly needed by
Kontact? My Akonadi is not running and I don't know how to make it run. My
Kontact does not start at all after upgrading to Lucid (Ubuntu 10.4)
The following line keeps on scrolling when I start Kontact in Terminal:

I upgraded to Ubuntu 9.10 with a clean installation. I tried
OpenMovieEditor again. This time it opens, but it is still VERY, VERY
slow in playing back a MPG file. It takes a long before it starts to
play, and when it does, it plays slowly in shutter effect. At least
this time it does not freeze
I get the same problem when playing a normal DVD. After I clicked the
right arrow, the movie stops playing, as if it is paused, but I did not
clicked on the pause button.

I removed Open Movie Editor after I struggled with it, so I had to
install it again. But this time it does not open at all. I clicked on
the icon, the application appeared on the task bar, but no application
window opens. After a few seconds it disappear from the task bar also.

Open Movie Editor is VERY, VERY slow. After I load a MPG file, it slows
down my whole laptop, until I manage to close it - after a while of
clicking on a menu or button and wait for anything to happen. It is
totally unusable.

on my taskbar for a few seconds, and then it disappears, without any

After I Disabled my Desktop Effects in my System Settings, the problem
disappeared. It seems that somewhere OpenOffice clashes with the Desktop
Effects. This is a pity, because I would like to have my Desktop Effects
Enabled.

Excel file, stored on my USB Flashdrive, using the right-click menu,
Open With option. I selected MS Excel, after which MS Excel loads, but
with an empty Book1 file and not the file I selected in Dolphin.

it reached the final stages, and now my knetworkmanager also is not

I have a Kingmax 1GB Flash Drive and I'm using Kubuntu 7.04 (up-to-
date). On My Windows XP PC, the free space available shows 439MB, but on
Kubuntu it shows 119.5MB (although it shows about 400MB used). Even if I
Refresh on the Properties dialog window, it gives me the same.
I also encountered some webpages not displaying in Firefox for Kubuntu
7.04(ver. 2.0.0.6). Firefox for Windows (ver. 2.0.0.7) does not have this
