Will do. I have it in a script ready to run. Unfortunately (for
debugging purposes) I have seen the symptoms (slowdown, no keyboard) but
haven't been able to do anything other than press the reset button on
the front. I can't even ssh in from another machine as it won't connect.

BUG: unable
It seems that you're thinking that VirtualBox is running Ubuntu. I'm
running Ubuntu as the host system and WinXP under VirtualBox and losing
the keyboard under Ubuntu. USB keyboard (and mouse) if that helps.
I will try and run the command next time it happens.

BUG: unable to handle kernel
Happened for me in karmic. Load average went through the roof but
eventually came back. Afterwards keyboard won't work in gnome-terminal
but does in other applications. Mouse works.
For me, the trigger was starting VirtualBox.

Outdated not - in fact they were newer. (These were installed to add a
newer version of Samba so that Windoze 7 could connect.) I've removed
the newer version and reinstalled the older one and so far (24 hours)
it's been stable.
Thanks and we can close this issue now.

firefox-3.5 crashed
Hmm. It was always failing trying to do a apt-get dist-upgrade and not
being able to install linux-
image-2.6.28-15-generic_2.6.28-15.52_amd64.deb. Note that sudo depmod -a
would produce the core dump even without apt-get.
I decided to try and install the package with dpkg -i and it all worked
Created a new tab, typed www.gmail.com and pressed Enter. Crashed - see
