I was also affected by the SNA activation. Same config for me: 11.04 64bit + xorg-edgers ppa + 2.6.39-3 kernel. I wouldn't say the system was unresponsive but that the display wasn't properly refreshed. ie. typing something in the terminal wasn't slow, it was waiting for me to click on another
