Yesterday I experienced a "no space available" condition on /boot during
do-release-upgrade of a server from trusty to xenial.
Excerpt from the apport log (it contains somewhat sensitive information
so It'll need cleaning to be disclosed):

This is caused by insufficient disk space on /boot partition where
kernels are stored, excerpts from the attachments:

Follow up to my comment #7:
Inspecting log files I find what to me looks like a bad recursion in
dependency checking when setting up the package gcr (GNOME crypto
services). The apt-term log shows 50 of the same error message about
unability to run triggers for gconf2 because python3 is unconfigur
Hit this same problem while upgrading from 15.10 to 16.04 using the GUI
distribution upgrader.
During upgrade I got a dialog reporting the gconf2 dependency problem.
The terminal indicates this happened on unpacking the inkscape package.

I patched gtk3 to inverse scrolling and created a package. This works in
all gtk3 apps, so now I have got natural scrolling everywhere. But the
downside is that it's not possible to toggle natural scrolling. It's
only possible to get back the default scrolling by reinstalling the
official libgtk-3-
locate/updatedb/findutils is *destroying* my laptop on a daily basis.
Recent Ubuntu releases (in particular after 12.04) seem to have gotten
particularly suceptible to UI hangs under heavy IO load. This makes
Unity (and all other desktop systems I've tried) unusable for ~20

version that ships with Precise, so no custom versions here.

Several of the MySQL monitors give errors like the following when used
with a MariaDB server in Precise:

I fixed it by uninstalling ubuntuone-client and dependants using
Synaptic Package Manager. Ubuntu One was just bloatware that I never
asked for anyway. It should be optional to download, especially when it
is buggy and causes hard-to-track problems like this.

Looked a bit into this. Zeitgeist-0.9.0 does not support upgrading from
schema version 3 to 6. Only from 4 to 6. The relevant revision in
lp:zeitgeist is:

The libdee-doc package (1.0.8-0ubuntu1) does not contain the correct
docs as would be compiled for dee-1.0.8. In particular the DeeClient and
DeeServer classes are missing. Also docs for "Dee ICU Extensions" seems
to have been left out.

Just FYI; I started a thread on unity-dev to figure out a solid long
term solution of how to enable access to some of the advanced features
of the wm/system that may require some stateful negotiation with the

An update on the situation: To my understanding the intention is
definitely not to kill workspaces (and they should be fixed for
keyboards as well now). The thing is that the current ws switcher button
in the launcher is highly dangerous to novice users. I've on two
