1) Use a separate partition for /home.
2) Boot Windows or another operating system. Mount the partition with writing
permissions, e.g. with Ext2Fsd.

I can send messages to AIM users with Pidgin just fine. Are you sure
that the users aren't indeed off-line? In contrast to off-line ICQ
users, off-line AIM users cannot receive messages and collect them
later when they log in.
Also, AOL has a feature that allows users to be reachable by SMS only.

In Ubuntu the problem is aggrevated by the fact that even when the user
installs sun-java5-jre (or 6) and uses the alternatives system to set that JRE
as the preferred one, Eclipse uses gcj anyway! This is because there is the file
/etc/eclipse/java_home which looks like this and causes gcj to be
ATI Radeon 9600

I have recently upgraded from Edgy, in which mplayer worked flawlessly,
first to Feisty and then to Gutsy. Now when I run mplayer, no window
pops up, no video or sound plays, the file seems to end immediately (it

I tried it the same way described above, starting sudo adept_updater
from the terminal, it starts the upgrade wizard for Feisty in the end.
On the first try it stopped when it got a 404 from one of the
