I guess this would apply to any version of Synaptic.
Actually, it's an interesting point as the message is slightly confusing as you
say and the fix should be easy.

Was quite hard to reproduce.
Do as follows :
1- Select an installed package
2- Click on quick search
3- Press Del
It behaves as if the pane showing the packages had the focus no matter whether
the Quick search input box contains text already or not.
What's even strange is that if the currently

or from the command line ? Make sure to use : sudo synaptic or gksu

While looking into a source code of a GTK+ application I wanted to know
where was a widget located. I opened the glade file and had to find it
out by hand opening all the hierarchy of components. A search function
to look for widgets by their names would be very useful.
