I can confirm that the instructions mentioned by William Scheidegger
(thanks a lot !!!) in post #334 work after updating the kernel to
2.6.35-28.
$ lspci -vnn | grep -A 1 Wireless

So a security update for the kernel has arrived on Maverick which is
linux-image-generic-2.6.35-27.48
I have the 2.6.35-27 kernel posted in #270 . Correct me if wrong, but I
do not think those changes have been integrated in the update.
Since it is a security fix, not a standard bug fix update,
Just thought I'd post my experience with this bug and testing out the
potential fix.
I have the following configuration:
nandan@nandan-Aspire-5920:~$ lspci -vnn | grep -A 1 Wireless
06:00.0 Network controller [0280]: Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 3945ABG
[Golan] Network Connection [8086:4222]
I have tested webkit 1.2.5 on ubuntu 9.10 (karmic) with the following
applications: empathy, liferea, midori and epiphany.
Tested out twitter, facebook, identi.ca , ran some javascript benchmark
tests (v8 -run6, acid3).
The new twitter interface seems to slow down both midori and epiphany
and
@ Maia and @ Tory , I believe there is a way from the Appearance
preferences dialog to move the buttons to the right, without having to
mess around with gconf or UbuntuTweak for that matter.
Once you are in the Theme tab, choose the Clearlooks theme. This will
move the buttons to the right since
Maybe the bug should be marked as confirmed rather than incomplete ,
since the high CPU usage can be observed on the newer releases as well ?

I was struck by this bug today again, so maybe its not been fixed yet.
I am using gnome-power-manager 2.27.91
and xserver-xorg 1:7.4+3ubuntu5
The Karmic installation is a daily image from 29 August 2009
I was just browsing and my screen went blank, after moving the mouse the screen
came back.
I think you will need to run this:
$ sudo apt-get install grub-pc
$ sudo grub-install /dev/sda (replace sda with the correct drive letter)
$ sudo update-grub
You can do this from a Live CD by mounting the parition where karmic is
installed and doing a chroot into it to perform the above ^

This happens because the mount.ntfs process has to handle the file operation on
