Thanks for putting this together. I've given it a go and the results are
not as good as others, although better than the vanilla kernel.
On my system I lose the sound initially on boot, and in particular the
inbuilt SPDIF is non-functional to start with despite selecting Digital
output on
latencytop shows nothing unusual as far as I can tell. The one artifact
that shows up consistently from iotop is that the Wine application
(Spotify.exe in this case) and the wineserver process are writing small
amounts of data (3 or 4 K/s) at the same time when the Underruns happen.
Log attached.

My PPA has been updated with patch version 0.32 now. I've been
experiencing occasional drop outs with the patch (on a netbook with an
SSD) which look like buffer under-runs. Is anybody else suffering the
same issue?

.MTS and .M2TS file extensions should be linked to mime type video/MP2T
as per RFC 3555. I've linked a freedesktop bug that probably covers the
issue upstream
** Bug watch added: freedesktop.org Bugzilla #14276

support within Totem via the standard plugin search mechanisms.
It reports lack of support for 'MPEG-2 Video Decoder' within the plugin
search facility.
