No, all that completely makes sense. In fact, I haven't had to bother with my xorg.conf file in a while, so I don't know when this particular regression (if that's what it is) occurred. Also, it appears that I do not actually need to include the information concerning my Nvidia card in xorg.conf,

Ok... I'm back in gnome, typing on my USB keyboard (and using my usb mouse). I found that if I put the keyboard and mouse information back into xorg.conf, my usb devices became available from within X. I'm attaching the xorg.conf file that's in use right now. Unless I'm remembering incorrectly, isn

Something interesting though... sometimes I can use my usb keyboard to navigate the grub screen, but most of the time i need to revert back to the PS/2 keyboard. Don't know if that has anything to do with this. The g

Here's my xorg.conf. I renamed the original file, and I also ran the dpkg-reconfigure command, but the problem persists. ** Attachment added: "-home-nick-xorg.conf" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/18498039/-home-nick-xorg.conf -- 2.6.27-7 kernel breaks USB https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/28173

Dimitrios, upon further investigation, USB appears to be broken under X. Also, not only USB, but I cannot use my ps/2 keyboard either. However, I'm typing this message from Lynx right now using a usb keyboard, but X is not running. These problems all began immediately after the update to kernel 2.6

I seem to have the same problem... 2.6.27-7 appears to have broken usb (at least on my box). I'm running ubuntu 8.10 on a 64 bit machine. I've attached the logs that are generated under the rescue environment from the install cd. If there are other ways of exporting logs that would be pertinent to
