Problem disappears for me after revertering FROM linux-
image-4.15.0-44-generic TO linux-image-4.15.0-43-generic
Seems to be other issues with linux-image-4.15.0-44-generic, I get
lockups simply by disconnecting the USB-C cable to my monitor
("undocking", if you will).

Same problem for me.
Full freeze after entering sleep mode or if I just lock my gnome-session while
an external monitor is attached.
If laptop is standalone it does not freeze.

Curtis, just wanted to confirm that your Mythtv-workaround worked
perfectly for me, thanks a lot!
CPU usage is three times as high though, but I can live with that if it
means HD-videos free from tearing.

Hi there
The system is a shambles.
Today I used the 10.10 install disk with no Ethernet connection, but
with a wireless dongle.
The new system installed and booted OK and then allowed me to connect
via the Netgear dongle. I started update manager and it installed some

Sadly, the new version (10.10) does not work.
The first update (yesterday) gave a screen without a task bar; today's
update does not allow me to login, as it keeps returning to the password
screen when it fails to set up the monitor.
Has your modification been included in the new release yet?
This has no effect.
To get CTRL-ALT-F1 to work, I must boot with the monitor switched off.
I wait (for the boot to complete) and then switch on the monitor and get
640x480. Before I login I press CTRL-ALT-F1. This gives me the
console. It does not work if I boot with the monitor switched on.
