problem persists with a different router running dd-wrt, (verified with
compat-wireless-tarball '2011-10-10' and '2011-09-19')

I can confirm this bug (it is obviously pretty annoying) and the
workaround mentioned above does not work for me and should not be
considered a permanent fix.
Chipset is the mentioned above (Atheros 9287), at least lspci tells me
that, I am right now not able to confirm this (Card is a TP-Link TL-
