That was a good few years ago, Pedro! I still have the same laptop
though and can happily say that the problem seems to have been resolved
in future versions.

Can someone please change this back to confirmed as the internal

I've posted a dirty hack on the ubuntu forums, follow the link above. It
requires a little terminal kung-fu, but is completely explained.
The problem, interestingly seems to have been resolved in Intrepid 8.10.

This isn't actually an issue any more. I restored my Gutsy backup and
then later installed Hardy from CD, rather than through update-manager,
and haven't had any problems. So therefore it's not the same install
that had the issue and so this bug report is possibly null and void now,

I have found the same issue, however in my experience removing all
locations (of which I had only one) solved the problem to some extent.
There is still a short lag between clicking the clock and the calendar
appearing, during which time the Window list is also frozen, but the
calendar does appear,

I can confirm this is happening on my 7.10 laptop. I'm running firefox
