Confirmed problem also exists in the newest release Karmic Koala (9.10)
Beta. I don't really know what other information you need, the bug seems
to be to be rather universal, so telling my system settings etc. etc.
don't seem to make any difference when you have so many people with such
various sys
I am confirming that this problem still exists in Ubuntu 9.10. No fixes
are working for this.

Compiz deslects visual effects settings and kills key combinations

When compiz is enabled it does not select anything in Visual Effects at
all, everything is disabled. It also kills all Alt-related key
