I'm running Ubuntu 10.10 on a Sager laptop and also have this problem.
Adding the script to /etc/pm/sleep.d/ to unload/reload the xhci_hcd module
seems to solve the problem for me.
After reading the comments, I'm not sure if it's better to add xhci_hcd to
SUSPEND_MODULES.

equivalent existed on Ubuntu, so it's possible to add maven2 to ubuntu,

The problem here is the way the javaws is invoked.
Since Java SE 6, if I want to run just the Java Web Start in standalone
mode, which is useful if I want to list/delete/run previously downloaded
applications, I have to run javaws -viewer as the .desktop file
correctly says, but if I need to run

using tifm_sd kernel module in Edgy. The module is not loaded by default, I
just added it to /etc/modules.

The whole idea of java-gcj-compat[-dev/-plugin] is to recreate the
traditional jre/jdk folder structure.
In this case there is the still official GCJ-4.1 version, and the
new/unreleased GCJ-4.2 version but with a lot of new stuff (that's why

This problem is solved in upcomming Mustang release. I have downloaded
and tested Java 1.6.0-beta2 and the problem is already solved in this
version. Java 6 comes with a better implementation of GTK Look and Feel,
and in the beta2 release the reported error is not seen anymore.
