I'm the author of Devede: can someone try with Devede 3.16.5 (available
in my homepage: http://www.rastersoft.com/programas/devede.html ) and
try to reproduce the bug? I'm currently using Ubuntu 64, version 9.10
and works fine.
I recommend to run it from a command line, using
devede_debug

in certain parts if it can compress it more without quality loss
(like in very static scenes). That means that the final size can be
smaller than the estimation made by DeVeDe, but never bigger.

Devede just passes the number of threads to Mencoder, and assumes that
it will make a good use of them. Unfortunately, mencoder seems to not
take much advantage from it. It's a mencoder problem, not a devede's
one.

Just a suggestion: check the filesize and test if the bug is triggered
with filesizes between 2 and 4 gigas, 6 and 8, 10 and 12 and so on. If
that's the case, then the problem can be because nautilus is using STAT
instead of STAT64. I had a similar problem some time ago and is was due
to that.

Is a bug in Ubuntu 9.10. For a misterious reason, it removed the icons
from the buttons. To recover them, just open a terminal, type "gconf-
editor" (without quotes) and, when it appears, activate the entry

Ok, I fixed the problem. It turned out that I had in fact python-
qt4-common installed (which seems to only exist in jaunty), and it
wasn't that I needed it, but that it somehow interfered with the karmic
packages. So, after doing:
sudo apt-get remove python-qt4-common
everything worked again:

I'm the creator of DeVeDe. The error message is somewhat ambiguous
because DeVeDe can't know the true reason why SPUMUX fails. That's why
it says "Maybe"; it just presumes that the error is (maybe) that you ran
out of free disk space :)

I tested the patch and seems to work... but there's another little bug:
mplayer works fine, but gmplayer, by default, tries to use "mga" as
video output. If I launch it with "-vo xv", it works and remembers the
new setting, using xv until I specify another one. Should I add this as
a new bug?

2.9 and 2.12), the sound is pure noise. It happens both with the final
DVD and with the previews, so to check this is as easy as add a divx
