I found that commenting out
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="$GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT nomdmonddf
nomdmonisw" alone didnt work, nor that with update-initramfs.
My fix:
comment out: GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="$GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT nomdmonddf
nomdmonisw"
and then append "nodmraid" to

So, I tried to use Geary 0.11.2 from launchpad's PPA, but it is different Geary
because Elementary OS uses geary-0.10.0-1ubuntu1+elementary0.3.4 0. This
package is patched for Elementary OS and have a bit different interface.

Even when boosted to maximum (480% I think) the audio on my netbook is
not loud enough, and extremely crackly through the internal speakers and
external speakers/headphones. The problem was fixed when I enabled
Multimedia Systems Selector and selected ALSA audio, and
I only have the open source driver too. I don't use the proprietary one
! :(

I have found the solution !!!
In fact, I force the ACPI_OS_NAME to Windows 2001 just to activate the
same functions as in Windows. And now, that works like a charm. Would
you please try the workaround ? It's easy, you just have to add
acpi_os_name=Windows 2001
at the end of the line concerning

one works for me too, but it seems to be more respectful with standards.
