On my Iomega Home Network Harddrive 500gb NAS I experience the ERRHD 39
bug after applying the patch.
I would love to file a new bug report to have it looked at, but I need
some hand holding, in describing the error in the correct terms.
Especially since you have to first patch the first bug
Hear, hear Ross. I undoubtedly have a similar NAS.
Another option I can think of of is SSH forwarding some CIFS ports on my
NAS via a server I have in the United States. (In this way making the
ports publicly available).
This would allow the developers to test against by NAS.

If there is a bug in there CIFS server which is preventing write access
I would love to be able to provide them with details so they can

Accessing directly through Nautilus fails, see bug 264943 (gvfsd-smb

both seem to use libsmbclient.so.0 underneath.
The nautilus UI also crashes and sends you to your home directory. e.g.

I am now running smbclient 3.2.3 I am still experiencing the same
problem with my NAS an Iomega Home Network Harddrive.
This is 100% reproducable on my setup, I would really appreciate if this
bug can be looked at as it is the biggest hassle I have after upgrading
to Intrepid Ibex.

To be clear this has rendered Gnome unusable on my system, just after
this error message the screen goes blank, and can not be used further.
I simply did a routine upgrade of Ubuntu, and experienced this after my
first reboot after the upgrade.

Public bug reported:
When attempting to do an upgrade this morning:
Could not calculate the upgrade
A unresolvable problem occurred while calculating the upgrade.
Please report this bug against the 'update-manager' package and include the
following error message:
'E:Error,
I have attached the output of the command
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade -o Debug::pkgProblemResolver=1
Could it be because I did this at an earlier stage:
I was trying out schooltool and added the following to
/etc/apt/sources.lst
deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/schooltool-owners/ubuntu hardy main
This does not work on hardy either tried
ls -l | gedit
ls -l | cat | gedit
both render an empty document.
This would be a killer feature.
