I've been planning to test the package and will hopefully get to it in
the near future (it's on my myth box which is finally working). I've
just got to make sure I undo everything already there before I do.

Public bug reported:
Running up to date lucid:
On a system with no monitor connected gnome-display-properties does not allow
you to change the resolution.
For example, when using the system remotely via vnc.
** Affects: control-center (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
Status: New
--
To reproduce: Unplug any monitors and connect to the computer via vnc (or
similar) and try to change the desktop resolution.
All inputs in gnome-display-properties are disabled.

This is still an issue with lucid. Would be great if this firmware could
be included in linux-firmware, or linux-firmware-nonfree at least.

I've installed 2.6.33 from the mainline ppa
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds so I can have a play with
ATI KMS but it seems to have solved these (and my other) issues with
PATA drives on VIA chipsets. Be aware though that the latest kernel
won't won't with the current fglrx binary
I installed 2.6.33 several days ago to test ATI KMS but it seems to have
fixed this problem. I haven't tested enough to completely sure but as
yet I've seen no sign of this bug. I've got to burn a lot of stuff over
the next few days so if nobody else tests this I will at least.

Smbnetfs has been fine for me since I upgraded to karmic. But I'm not
sure if I still have any fixes in place. As far as I'm aware it's all
stock.

Spoke too soon.
System is now sometimes useless again after resume, typically when lots of apps
are open.
Only things that have changed recently are latest updates and me using eclipse.

I no longer seem to be affected by this bug. I'm not sure what fixed it but I
did change a few things at once:
Updated to fglrx 9.6.
Updated my trunk version of firefox.
Applied the latest set of updates (about a month ago).

[Hardy] High system load coming out of suspend and hibernate
This bug typically makes my system unusable for 30 minutes after resume,
I end up having to (slowly) kill all open apps to stop them all swapping
out. Firefox is the biggest problem. Disabling swap did nothing, and I
can't kill gnome-power-manager because then suspend is no longer there
on the
Yeah, you are right about it not being triggered by suspend/resume, I
just rebooted to try and burn a cd and the bug stopped things after just
273 seconds of uptime. Again, this regression is really annoying.

LIBATA with PATA_VIA causes ATAPI PATA devices to hang with HPET enabled
I've got the same problem on jaunty with three machines with Via
k9t890/k8m890 chipsets. ATAPI drives will work after boot but sometime
after disappear (after suspend/resume?). It's incredibly annoying to
have to restart the computer to mount a cd, especially given this
problem didn't exist before

I have the same problem with a HP nx9040. I read somewhere that tv out
doesn't work with 855GM using the intel driver. It did work with the
i810 driver but it's not available with Ubuntu any more.

I compiled samba with the patch from the samba bug tracker.
I installed the new smbclient deb and smbclient ls's on my 2.2.8 server worked
properly as they should (no last letter missing). Then I installed the new
libsmbclient deb (what gvfs-smb uses) and now the shares work properly in
Is anyone here willing to have a go at compiling samba with that
smbclient patch (see the debian bug)? I might do it if I can't find a
new deb with it in.

Hi, I don't think anybody here has a problem with accessing the shares
normally like that. I can mount them with smbmount //server/share
/mountpoint just fine. The problem seems to just lie with gvfs so
traditional access is unaffected. What version is the samba server you
are connecting to? So
At the moment it's giving me the Transport endpoint is not connected
message when I try to cd into .gvfs but previously I could do an ls and
see the shares listed. But when I cd into one I got an error message and
the share disappeared. The same as you I believe. I'm out of my depth
here but
I am plagued with exactly the same problem. I can can see the shares but
they are empty, I can read and write to them (blindly) but nautilus
doesn't list any files. I think this has something to do with the server
version, I'm also running an older samba server (a freesco router) with
version
Forgot to say, this is on a box upgraded to intrepid and current with
updates (so rc atm). I tried the shares yesterday with the livecd and
had the same problem.
