Confirmed, this bug exists in Maverick.
In my particular case, it is GNU tar which produces the above stated
output, and it is the file-roller GUI which works properly.
My archive file, however, contains un-distributable sources from a
colleague, and I cannot post it here.

Our company uses jabber for group communication; nearly all of us are
programmers.
In pasting snippets of code back and forth in chat messages, it is
roundly agreed that the lack of a font picker, for choosing a monospace

It exits with a segmentation fault.
See my attachment for a probably not-very useful crash backtrace (no
debug symbols).

Found some dupes of this... most important thing to know about this bug
is that it's not just synaptic, it's every network application that
depends on the environment variables $http_proxy, $ftp_proxy, $no_proxy,
etc.
The bug title is a bit misleading and should be changed to:
system-wide

Wow... peeking at dupes, it seems that authentication and non-proxy host
lists have been broken for years!!
Authenticated proxy is a very common requirement at large companies (I
work for a multi-national audio equipment manufacturer with ~10,000
employees, or so, worldwide for example),
It looks like the same conclusion was come to, also back in May, in bug
#345542 ... is this a dupe?
Definitely a kernel regression, at least for the PPC port. Rather
severe, too, it seems.
Has anyone a patch to submit? We could all, at least, begin testing it.
I, for one, would be game.

Also confirmed, 1.67GHz G4 Ti-Book, using jaunty's PPC kernel (v.

Found bug #370200 as well... relevant or no??
Has Luke really been working on a kernel update for the past two months?
I hope it's ready now :-)

BTW, shouldn't this be moved from mesa to linux-ports, filed against the
PPC kernel? I would do that but I don't know how, in launchpad (never
thought I would miss bugzilla...)

Ok, I see. I was mistaken, and thought they had the same single cause.
That one is especially annoying, especially in the GL screensavers. I
would bet there are dupes being filed there against the screensaver...

I seem to be having the same problem, confirmed in Jaunty. However...
I'm not on 64 bit, I'm on the PowerPC-build, so I suspect this is a
multi-arch bug (something in OpenJDK itself) rather than specifically a
64bit x86 issue.

Still reproducible in 9.04 final.
Suppose I should note that I'm on the community-supported PowerPC port,
but this is a packaging problem (the deb install metadata fails to
properly place an autostart entry).
This bug is named incorrectly, I think... it's not just edge-flipping,
but all
