The configure file takes the --libexecdir parameter in order to set
another libexecdir path. The data/Makefile.* didn't use this variable,
but $(prefix)/libexec, which prevented the applet from starting.

I tried to freeze Firefox with the instructions from the second comment,
but nothing. It did took a while to change the theme, but Firefox
continued to work normally after that.
Tested in Gran Paradiso alpha 7. I will try to reproduce it in Firefox

refresh problem with compiz and my computer being too slow :). It also
happens when a window unshades.

Enabling Desktop Effects, some part of firefox and thunderbird windows are
black for few seconds when I deminimize them.
Now I'm pretty much sure about that default width:height ratio... I set
application font to 14pt and now there's some extra space on Main and
Security tab. With 10pt fonts there's just enough space, and with 8pt
some stuff gets truncated.
