I am experiencing a similar issue that may be related, my LG246WP
identifies as a Goldstar Ltd. 24 screen. This occurs when connected via
DVI-VGA and DVI-HDMI. When connected via DVI-VGA, all expected
resolutions display properly. When connected via DVI-HDMI, the screen
is cropped and off-center

For what it's worth, I have the same monitor (LG L246WP) and am experiencing
this issue on the currently daily builds for Lucid. This is a desktop system
running an ATI Radeon HD 4650 (R730PRO). The monitor works fine (but fuzzy)
over DVI-VGA, and shows the same cropping as comment #58.
Here is my EDID data for this same monitor running from Radeon HD 4650
under Lucid daily build 29-Mar-2010:

being misplaced on the screen and that there must be a bug in notify-
osd.

For what it's worth:
I originally reported this based on my experiences on my 6-year-old
desktop computer, using an LG DVD burner (I can look up the actual model
when I get home).
Today I burned my first DVD using my laptop, a Lenovo T61 which uses a
Matshita drive, and the exact same thing

multiple people here experiencing the same problem. Perhaps you could
indicate /what/ would be useful information that is missing, and I am
sure many of us would be more than willing to provide said information.

At the suggestion of another user suffering similar issues, I tried the
following:
1) Install the PulseAudio preferences manager (package `paprefs'); this
happened to already be installed in my case
2) In paprefs, under the Network Access tab, check the following two options:
* Enable
All of my filesystems are ext3. It could indeed be a local config
issue.. I upgraded from 7.10, and there are quite a few things that are
causing me issues that don't seem to be a problem on my laptop's clean
install of 8.04.

A further note: There have been two kernel upgrades since I've been
using 6.06. When Synaptic updates the kernel, it re-writes the list of
auto-generated boot options in GRUB's menu.lst file (leaving intact
anything below the line '### END DEBIAN AUTOMAGIC KERNELS LIST').
On each kernel upgrade,
The problem persists with Ubuntu 6.06 LTS. As before, GRUB listed my
Linux partition as (hd1,1) and my Windows partition as (hd1,0) when the
should in fact be (hd0,1) and (hd0,0) respectively.
Once again, I manually edited GRUB in order to boot Linux, modified
menu.lst to reflect these changes,
Unfortunately I will not be able to test to see if I can reproduce this
problem for some time. It will require a reformat and re-partitioning of
my system drive, which I haven't the time to complete at the moment.
When I am able to I will see if I still receive the error.
