I have no interest in any investigation of this bug. The solution is
adding irqpoll to the boot line, and I've been using that in numerous
distributions ever since with great succes.

I solved this problem by adding
irqpoll
anywhere in to grub boot command line and since this 'bug' seem to appear in
any newer distribution, it can hardly be a Ubuntuspecific bug. Shouldn't it be
deleted?

I get no odd messages from dmesg that could be linked to the USB
problem. Currently I run PCLinuxOS .93, which is based on kernel 2.6.16,
that is one minor release more recent than the kernel of Dapper, and
here everything works great.

If I insert any USB device into my laptop, the systems hangs instantly and then
I'm forced to reset the computer.
If a deviced, like a mouse, is plugged before startup the cursor lags quite a
bit. Doing a lsusb shows that all devices have been detected OK.
