When bootup to a wired DSL connection, Ubuntu (Network Manager?) does
not show the wired connection active. One has to disconnect manually in
Network manager, then reconnect to access the internet. What happens on
bootup is that the Ethernet light on the DSL modem goes out on

Joe, I'm thinking of upgrading to 11.10 this weekend. But as 11.10 still
