Just tried the Jaunty beta livecd and this seems to be fixed (Macbook 2,1).

Problem remains with Alpha 4. Installed a clean copy of Alpha 4, updated
it fully and getting to the same point before a freeze (past the login
screen and to the wallpaper and the round working cursor)

Screen corruption hasn't quite gone away it seems. When the screensaver
kicks in again, it displays properly on the bottom 20% of the screen,
but the desktop is still on top on the top 80%.
The bottom gnome-toolbar shows over the screensaver as well.

Thanks for all your help so far.
Have changed my sources.list to point to archive.ubuntu.com and have
dist-upgraded. There are no new updates now.
I am getting past the GDM login screen again but once I try to login it
hangs at the wallpaper. Cursor is not an arrow this time, though. Cursor

Just getting a green dotted line at the top of the screen.
When I apt-get upgrade from the recovery console, I see there are a lot

Fresh install of Jaunty Alpha 3. GDM Login screen comes up fine, but

I am also having trouble with my Macbook (2,1) keyboard.
Changing the layout to Macbook or Macbook (Intl) both produce the "Error
activating XKB configuration" error.

I can confirm this as well, running a fresh installation of hardy beta
with nothing extra installed (apart from ccsm).
It'd be a shame if this bug wasn't fixed before the release, because it
was something that impressed me in gutsy.
