It happens to me too (Dell Optiplex 760 desktop). The problem only
occurs when I enable desktop effects.

On my computer Skanlite supports the following image formats: PNG, JPG,
JPEG (what's the difference with JPG?), BMP, PPM, XBM and XPM. I did
some digging on Wikipedia, and it seems that none of these formats can
actually hold an image with more than 8 bits per colour.

I'm using an Epson GT-X700 scanner with Skanlite on Kubuntu 10.04.
Skanlite supports the scanner, but scanning at more than 8 bit per
colour doesn't work. I set up Skanlite like this:
- Scan source: Transparency Unit
- Film type: Negative fi
Personally I would classify this as a workaround. IMO not following a
good-practice should not result in a segfault.
My usage of QApplication is rather unique, in that I create and destroy
multiple QApplication instances sequentially, in the same process. You
don't need to bother with setting QtGu
Just a heads-up: the segfault-at-exit can also be caused by
instantiating multiple QApplication instances. This confuses Qt/PyQt and
can cause a segfault at the destruction of the second QApplication
instance. I've blogged about this (including the solution) at

By the way, it seems to be quite a small change from 4.7.2 to 4.7.3. The

If a configuration file is shipped with a package but not used by that
package, then it's a bug. fail2ban.jail doesn't exist on my system,
/etc/fail2ban/jail.conf does. It can list all sorts of information, but
that's worthless

I got the same error, from an invocation of autopano-sift by Hugin.
In the package autopano-sift (2.4-0ubuntu8), the executable is called
autopano. Using the default settings, Hugin
(0.7.0~svn3191+beta5-1ubuntu1) expects it to be called autopano-sift.
