Ok, the update seems only to have fixed the mime entries but didn't fix the
scripts that call the kde4 apps. I'm working on the final part of this issue
now and should have it uploaded soon.

you need to remove all old kde4 packages before installing the newer version,
do a search for the kde4 packages and remove them.
dpkg -l | grep 4:3.97.0 | grep '^ii'
That should list them all, try with 4:3.96.0 as well to make sure you don't
have anything from RC1 as well.

I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro A100 and have also lost the use of special keys
in .22
showkey (as root) shows no output for internet/media, play/pause, stop and
back/forward,
fn+F? shows the same output whether fn is pressed or not.
