proprietary graphics drivers, which is brought out by using a

The best thing to try (although not guaranteed to work, sadly), is a workaround

Surely you need a "/", or a ":nnn/" after "cacher.foo.org"?

the front of URLs, and then expecting it to be able to get packages from
"cacher.foo.org.security.ubuntu.com"?
That address doesn't exist, hence the errors.

I'm afraid you may not find it easy to get help for this, if, as I
suspect, it's related to wubi. Wubi is a relatively new thing, and I
suspect that much of the community is running Linux the conventional
way, without using Windows. But good luck nonetheless.

Hi Dave
That means there's a problem with the backend system that configures
packages on your system. Specifically, it's been stopped half-way
through doing something. What you'll need to do is to bring up a
terminal (GNOME terminal in GNOME, or Konsole in KDE), and issue the
command it gives you:
