As the phone was sold to you by BQ, you should probably contact them.
Regarding the SIM slots. The phone has what's called a dual-standby SIM
implementation. Only of the two SIM slots is allowed to use a 3g
network at any time.

when I enable WiFi and it autoconnects to my home AP, although the NM

odd, is that when the phone is booted with WiFi enabled, only a single
default route is created. If I disable WiFi, then re-enable, I see two

I think this explains the behavior I often see when enabling WiFi and it
auto-connects to a known AP. NM shows the connection as active ( ie.
nmcli d ), the routing table it correct, pinging an IP address works,
however for the first 30-90s after the connection comes up, DNS lookups
fail.
Note, Alfonso just hit the empty routing table bug again today while
testing my flight-mode fixes for arale.

Here are my observations running image #237 ( devel-proposed/ubuntu ) on
mako.
First, as Alfonso pointed out in comment #6, there are some new devices
that appear when running wily vs. vivid.
Here's a diff of the output of 'ip addr' on rc vs. devel-proposed:

Finally in reference to voice and SMS, these are working at the low-
level. The modem registers properly, and I'm able to dial out via the
dial-number script and send an SMS via the send-sms script.
The dialer-app shows "No Network", so my guess is that there's a

file, and rebooted. When I try to activate a GPRS context directly via

Just spotted a difference between auto and manual partition installs.
The log for a manual install includes the line
Jun 21 17:53:54 kubuntu grub-installer: info: architecture:
amd64/generic
The log for an automatic install says amd64/efi
This value drives which grub is installed and comes from
Parted listing

Yesterday I ran 6 installs in VirtualBox. If I used automatic
partitioning I got grub-efi. If I used manual partitioning I got grub-
pc. I was rather surprised when I realised my real machine had booted
with grub-pc on a GPT disk without a bios_grub partition but it did.

put me off trying that option and implied rather clumsy solutions which
was why I raised the request. However, I have now tried it and barring
one problem it works and I can boot off either disk.

only one disk in place, with root in sda4 and EFI in sda1, swap sda2.
These were set up with manual partitioning. No RAID.
After I had removed grub-pc and installed grub-efi I added the extra
disk and raided sda3/sdb3 and moved
