I have tested this in Intrepid (8.10 with openoffice.org
1:2.4.1-11ubuntu2) and the problem is still there.
Opened Polly2.odg from an XP share and deleted 2 frames; Saved; Opened
again and the file has to be recovered.

Well, try to disable your WLAN card. I had my WLAN on a PCIx card. I
just pulled it out and I've never had a problem since. This kernel seems
to be incompatible with certain WLAN chips.

It's very intermittent and can go for a few days without freezing but when it
does, it requires a hard reset.

You're right, I may have jumped the gun a little. It's just a major
problem when you can't do any work because your tools crash at random
intervals.
So far excluding this from the hotspot JIT:

I am experiencing this problem with a system newly upgraded from Feisty
to Hardy.
Steps to reproduce:
* Launch kcontrol or System Settings
* Select Appearance -> GTK Styles and Fonts
* Either select "Use another style" in GTK Styles or "Use another font" in GTK
Fonts.
* Click Apply
* Close kcontr
This is a complete showstopper for me, as my daily backups require my external
drive to be switched on and attached, which immediately causes kded to go wild
and screw the rest of the system.
Unless there's a fix very fast, I'm going to have to revert to Feisty :-(

Also, I tried a quick hack and removed the line that adds the AP to the
invalid_ap_list, and this seems to fix the problem.

All I meant was that I now run a standard feisty installation and this
is running three BOINC projects, including SETI without taking any
special actions.
Quite how it is doing it, I don't know. I don't have boinc-app-seti
installed.

(http://awesome.naquadah.org/). Mist icon theme.
Regarding awesome tray, they claim they use this specification

Some how, I got the error to go away:
Invalid bug because it appears to be an issue with awesome's tray
manager and gnome-panel. If I hear anything otherwise you will be

It is happening to me on a USB card reader after I plug it in. It doesn't get
recognized with or without any card inserted. Instead it will enter a loop

Thanks Jonathan.
For the record, after re-starting , the "updates available" icon was
still showing a large number of updates to install. Clicking it seemed
to finish off configuring (which I thought my earlier commands had done
- shows how well I understand apt).
...now to see what else KDE have

suggest is to disconnect the network cable then run the update install -
to simulate a connection problem to Macromedia's servers. The fact
