[hardy] [regression] LCD brightness control (Dell) no
It started happening with 1.4.8. I'm sorry I forgot mentioning that.
Also, my sister-in-law's computer is having the same behaviour. We both
have a Dell Inspiron 1501, Kubuntu Gutsy and Amarok 1.4.8. I have the 64
bit version and she has the 32bit version, though her processor is 64
bit. Just in
1. Inspiron 1501
2. No and no. I do get a little notification thing next to the battery icon
in the system tray. It says Brightness: 0%.

ButtonPressed = brightness-up

script manually, like 'lcdbryt.sh up'.

This
Same problem with a 1501. Gutsy with all the updates (it's updating some
stuff right now, but they're unrelated). The funny thing is, I used to
have this problem in Feisty, until Dell released a bios update. Then it
_sort of_ worked. If I hit the brightness keys a few times (no matter
which one),
Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: vlc
I was playing some wmv files and there didn't seem to be any problem. I
turned off the machine, and when I booted this morning, apport told me
it had crashed. Perhaps it didn't unload from memory when I closed it
last night before shutting the
