with the Ubuntu Software Center might share the same root cause since
they display similar behavior: both start up and are able to see updated
software just fine, but neither can actually make any changes, instead
waiting for
The problem is not fixed. I can check for updates just fine, but I still
cannot install any of them from Update Manager (see bug 898807, which
was marked as a duplicate of this). The window continues to fade out and
become unresponsive for a few minutes after the Install Updates button
is clicked,
I am able to open the Software Center just fine, but I cannot
install/remove anything in it. This is described in bug 897984 which was
marked as a duplicate of this one, although I did not see any associated
error messages or Apport windows.

windows will no longer show on the correct workspaces, but instead all

as the theme; most of the time you'll get the white Ubuntu default

I've been getting this problem with Oneiric ever since Beta 1. 11.10
releases in three days and I still haven't been able to get my preferred
browser running on this machine due to this bug. Considering that Google
Chrome is pretty popular, there will be major issues if this doesn't get
fixed soon.
This crash occurred to me after I had locked my screen to get up and do
something else for a moment, while Gedit was running with a few tabs
open. Thankfully all my work was saved.

I can also confirm that this is still an issue, as another crash just
occurred when I tried quitting Nautilus through the Unity launcher's
right-click menu. nautilus 1:3.2.0-0ubuntu5.

I wasn't affected by this until just this morning after letting my
desktop run overnight. Dash, launcher, and Alt+Tab all appear underneath
windows, forcing the use of Ctrl+Alt+arrow keys to switch to an empty
desktop for any real window management.

I can confirm the error dialog is now working, but what about the
conflicts preventing Labyrinth from installing? I liked using this
software back in Natty, but it's somewhat disappointing that I can't
install it in Oneiric even when it's listed in the Software Center. Does

I have just rerun Update Manager to get all the latest updates and
logged out/in, as you requested. But these crashes are difficult to
reproduce and seem to happen completely at random. As such, I have not
had a crash just yet, but I will come back once I see one.

Just happened again in Oneiric Beta 2 while browsing wallpapers in
System Settings, causing my HPLIP tray icon to disappear. I'd say this
is probably the most common crash I'm seeing on my system now. hplip
version 3.11.7-1ubuntu3.

Just got this crash as well, though I actually didn't notice it until I
had finished browsing some stuff with Firefox, then minimized it to see
the crash window.

I can confirm this. I now do have Thunderbird with Lightning 1.0b7
installed and working, but it still won't show in Default Applications.
This seems like a regression from Natty where Evolution supported
calendars (including Google Calendar) right out of the box, while
Thunderbird needs a plugin m
It's still not working for me. Just applied the latest updates and
rebooted, yet my address book in Thunderbird still only shows as
contacts the few people who I've been entering in my To fields manually.
