Whatever happened, I am now unable to reproduce the aforementioned bug. Frequency scaling appears to work 100% of the time, according to the scaling applet in gnome-panel, at any rate. Since the bug was unrelated anyway, I for one feel confident to state the patch properly does the job. -- AMD
