I switched my video driver from Nouveau to Nvidia (latest driver) for my
GEForce 460 video card. This meant that the encryption pw screen did show up,
only I couldn't type in it so the system wouldn't start. So I had to go through
"safe mode" startup, in which I could type the pw (in shell),
I switched the video driver from Nouveau to Nvidia proprietary driver.
Now I can watch youtube in Chrome. I do have other issues now, described
in bug 1404169.

My computer crashes even with no device connected to usb. It freezes in
a way that I can only restart by hitting the power button. Today, the
crash also killed my sound.

wireshark running

Since I upgraded to Karmic Koala, my computer freezes once or twice a
day. This always happens when I start Wirshark in sudo mode, or when I
have Wireshark running. At the same time I have Eclipse open, and I have
an Android device connected

I unchecked Keep aligned on the desktop context menu, but whenever my
computer is restarted, it is checked again. This is not an urgent bug,
it's just annoying :-)

After some more testing I find:
If wireshark is running and I connect an Android phone via usb, Ubuntu freezes
If device is connected via usb, and I start Wireshark, Ubuntu freezes.

my sftp conncection breaks spontaneously after a while, I have to re-login to
