fully understand the concept of "file extensions".
Rename the file from "MaXX-Desktop-v2.1.1-LINUX-x64-tar.xz" to "MaXX-

I've enabled -proposed on my trusty machine, upgraded to the new version
and then performed the test as described in this bug report. It worked
for me now out of the box and I couldn't identify any problems with the
new package... so, I think, it's good to go.

I'm setting this to Invalid again, since it's not a bug and is not going
to be changed in the future versions of mc. If you believe that it
should have been dealt with differently, feel free to act upon, but I
think at this point it doesn't matter anymore.

Hi Mantas,
I pushed upstream a different patch from what you suggested, but I
believe it should still work. Yes, I believe it will make it in 4.8.8. I
don't know when it will get packaged, but I believe that it's not going
to be backported to the currently shipping versions of Ubuntu.
