Complementing #8 and #11:
sudo fuser -v /var/cache/debconf/config.dat returned nothing.
So, I made a backup of the files contained in /var/cache/debconf/ and
have deleted all the original files in the same directory. After that,
I've "restored" the backup and the upgrade worked fine.

I've found a workaround for this REALLY odd ubuntu issue.
Assuming you all have ELAN touchscreen devices, like mine, it represents
an usb device.
It seems that the ubuntu driver that controls the touchscreen has a bug,
altough it could work natively as another xinput device.
So,

Just the one-finger/two-finger touch are unresponsive. Three-finger
/four-finger touches keep working fine!
I've tried to put a script with the Ctrl+Alt+F6 / Ctrl+Alt+F7 commands
in /etc/pm/sleep.d/, but it won't run after lockscreen unlock. After pm-
suspend command in terminal the
Same with ACER aspire M5. Touchscreen stops after first suspend/resume
and Ctrl+Alt+F6 / Ctrl+Alt+F7 solves the issue.

I'm not sure if hibernate is the key here, but I always use it. The
problem don't happen just after coming from hibernate...
Sometimes, some sites (this always includes google.com and
google.com.br) stop working. I even tried to access them with telnet and

I'm using my panda rev A3 with kubuntu-desktop, installed with netboot. Board
was compiling xbmc, suddenly it freezed. Through ssh connection i got this

It seems to be related to my Thinkpad x120e. Apparently switching
workspaces works fine for the right ctrl, but not the left. You can

I alread have this problem.
I noticed in Users configuration tool that Ubuntu 11.10 is using iso8859-1 as
default encoding for pt_BR locale.
I fixed the Invalid UTF-8 problem changing the encoding by adding:
LANG=pt_BR.UTF-8
LANGUAGE=pt_BR.UTF-8:pt:en
LC_ALL=pt_BR.UTF-8
in /etc/environment.
I am using a Lenovo X120E which uses the AMD Fusion chipset and I
occasionally get the same crash on shutdown.
