(http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/) and so far, I haven't
had any blank screens upon resume. Please have a try.

I just realized my description might not be clear so let me try again.
The Symptom:
- Upon rsume, network manager find the network and connects to it
- I get a notification that my network is now connected
- FF and other tools attempt to establish connection with servers (gmail,
Facebook, etc)
BTW, I tried kernels 3.4 and 3.5 with the same problem. The odd thing is
that it doesn't happen in Beta 1 of 12.10.

continues to happen to me on my x201 running 12.04. The only way around
fixing it is
1. unload and reload the iwlwifi kernel module
2. reboot the machine
3. turn the wifi switch off for 30 seconds (so the kernel module gets unloa

After some more testing, I am convinced this issue is related to the
power management settings. With the laptop booted and running on
power (not on battery), WLAN works flawlessly even after many resumes.
Once I switched to batter and back or stayed on battery, the issue
crops up again.

This happens intermittently. I tried replicating it but hasn't been
easy. Sometime upon resume, all I see is a black screen and the cursor.
the mouse and keyboard respond (the mouse moves) but nothing changes.
Switching to console and back doesn't fix it.

Bad news guys. This still happens even after installing the backports
as per Leann's recommendation. As a matter of fact, it is more
repeatable.
The best way to fix it is to load and unload the iwlwifi kmod.
BTW, is there some sort of place to look for errors and such. I tailed
/var/log/syslog bu
