I had some long-running computations, so could not reboot. In the
meantime these have finished, and a reboot fixed the problem. (A
mismatch between kernel module and nvidia driver versions?)

After an update of Ubuntu 18.04, firefox stopped working. Uninstalling
and reinstalling does not help. Starting in safe-mode does not help.
The part that stopped working is certain menus. The seven menus on the
menu bar (File/Edit/View/History/Bookmarks/Tools/Help) all work,

Just upgraded to trusty. there is no package "gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg":

After "apt-get purge fonts-khmeros-core" the errors went away.
After "apt-get install fonts-khmeros-core" the errors did not come back.
Maybe something was wrong in /etc/fonts/conf.d/65-khmer.conf.

We have come to the conclusion that with CONFIG_HAVE_AOUT=y and
CONFIG_BINFMT_AOUT=m the latest Ubuntu version successfully handles QMAGIC
a.out executables. Also, that all OMAGIC and ZMAGIC files segfault after
executing 0 instructions.

Continuing the above report, I also found OMAGIC and QMAGIC binaries.
The OMAGIC binaries just segfault at address 0.
The QMAGIC binaries work, when provided with ld.so and the right libraries.
So, CONFIG_HAVE_AOUT=y and CONFIG_BINFMT_AOUT=m are successful,
but only for QMAGIC, the most recent form
Continuing the above report, I found the old libraries, but first

I had almost added a comment about the failure of Ctrl/Alt/F1, but
trying xev I see that the function keys on the new keyboard of this new
