I (I am no expert) think that PCM is is muted in the screenshot you uploaded. I
think the |MM| under PCM means it is muted. Select PCM and press M to unmute
(maybe there must be no sound applications running in order to do that). Maybe
it helps.

I used my volume-up and volume-down to lower or higher the volume. And in Hardy
I used "shift-volumeup" and "shift-volumedown" to go to the next/previous
track. The combinations don't work in Intrepid any more. Maybe your mute button

I can confirm this bug in Intrepid (8.10). The "Window Menu" shortcut
option in the Compiz Config Settings Manager (ccsm) is broken. It
immediately assigns the default Button1 action to be "Move Window",
meaning the user can't click anything without (unintuitively) holding
down the Alt key. "Win

allowed to you use chat at work?) or you did not enter a DNS

Yes, would be really great if this would be possible, but not only for KDE,

I am not sure if I understand you correctly.
I tried inserting a ruler and send the message and here it does not crash. Or
do you mean something else? Which IM network do you use (XMPP/AIM/MSN or
something else)? Is it reproducible?

Hello,
I just tried to set my port and it did not work and there was no help (that
helped or explained) why it did not work, it was really strange. There should
be better error messages that explain the strange behaviour.
And on Azureus Wiki ( http://wiki.vuze.com/index.php/Port_is_blacklisted
Is there any information needed?

Whoot! I just opened a few chat windows and minimized them and opened
and closed them again and suddenly I had ~150 mb! RAM is cheap today but
this really must not be. :(

Interesting. My Pidgin uses ~50mb (which is actually too much for such
an easy gtk instant messenger). I have no idea if this could have to do

I just found out that there are already a few entries about this bug, e.g. bug
288039.
There is also the solution (at least for me):
"alsamixer -Dhw" in a terminal and then set PCM from zero to something else
Alesh: The shutdown problem should be fixed in -proposed now.
Can you enable sound again by setting PCM in "alsamixer -Dhw" to 100 or so?
