Hi,
I experience the same issues as lelamal on my Thinkpad R50e. Same issue, the
system freezes every now and then and I can't suspend to disk or ram anymore.
Used to work perfectly before Karmic Koala. I would greatly appreciate any help
to solve thsi problem.

any new information. Not sure if this is important: I tried to run different
window managers (KDE4 and XFCE) and it happened in both cases. I never have any

Maschine crashed three times in a row, just a couple of minutes after
boot. then I picked an older kernel at boot time and everything worked
fine.
So I installed kerneloops and rebooted with the latest kernel to see
what going on, this bug report is the result.
Please let me

I do need to use vbe-post-quirk. without it the machine won't wake up from
resume.
Still the vbetool hangs and I have to kill it to turn the screen back on
and continue with the resume.

with that file patched, I can suspend using gnome power manager, and
wake up, but killing vbetool as discribed above will crash the mashine.
so its better than the original situation, but not a complete
/usr/lib/pm-utils/sleep.d/99video calls "vbetool post", that does
something very important, then hangs, so I kill it, rest of the resume
is normal.

Here is how I can resume, heavy workaround though (both in jaunty beta
and intrepid):
suspend with quirks:
- sudo pm-suspend --vbe-post --quirk-vbestate-restore --quirk-dpms-on
during resume
- hit ctrl-alt-F7
- the process "vbetool post" hangs causing 100% cpu usage, and has to be
terminated usi
the only error that I see is

- configure video with xrandr to use only the external VGA (xrandr --output
VGA-0 --auto --output LVDS --off)
- suspend with: sudo pm-suspend --quirk-vbe-post
- system goes to sleep
- press a button
- system wakes up
- press ctrl-alt-F7
- the video comes back on

- caps-lock can be toggled

This is how it used to work:
- Kubuntu Hardy Heron (so probably kernel 2.6.24.14)
- fglrx driver from ubuntu apt repositories
- pm-suspend --quirk-vbe-post --quirk-vbemode-restore --quirk-save-pci
Maybe that gives a clue?

thats it. no image, no reaction to caps-lock.
I managed to get resume to work with the proprietary fglrx driver, so
its probably an ati graphics issue

In Intrepid starting with kernel 2.6.27-7 my Acer TravelMate 4002 WLMI
does not power down any more. the shutdown process seems normal
otherwise, even the hard disk gets audibly turned off, but display and
laptop power stay on. reeboot works, though.

conceptronic bluetooth pcmcia used to work fine under kubuntu edgy,
feisty and initially gutsy. now all of a sudden it's not working any
more and makes kbluetooth crash.
On inserting the card, /var/log/messages reads:

this file was modified with ooo 2.0, it crashes in 2.3
There is a date in A2 and a formula in C1. deleting one of them makes the file
load normally.
crashes as well in a ubuntu (not kubuntu) live cd session in a virtalbox (so
it's a local problem).

I had to kill the upgrade process manually (wvdialconf had stopped working) and
run 'dpkg --configure -a' and 'apt-get clean'. but now I am on feisty.
So the upgrade was possible with some troble. I wonder if the patch above is
already applied to all the downloadable images.

when the upgrade-wizzard told me I had to download 1GB, I cancelled, and got
the alternate installation cd.
with that cd mounted I ran:
